Exhibition

The essay inspires me, especially in describing how an exhibition works and how a curator makes a good exhibition. The curator should become an invisible agent between the artists and the audience’s conversation. They need to actively question and critique the art collection in the exhibition and protect the work not disturbed by the market. A good exhibition makes the audience focus more on the works than the label. Also, a good exhibition should be an open maze without a confirmed conclusion. Finally, the curator should provide democratic respect to the mass and provoke their new thinking as much as possible.

The author here suggests the exhibition get out of the traditional chronological way and follow artist solution make exhibition always be criticized and opposed. I like the example of putting Monet’s art piece inside a canvas to present the unlined emotion behind the painting. It also inspires me a new angle to see the exhibition: take a look at the relationship of art pieces with the wall and the frames. The author also says that the curator should risk reconstructing the art. The best exhibition dares to use a revolutionary way to convey the intelligence behind the art pieces.
